You will not be let down by the MediFrida
This baby product company from Sweden has done nothing but blow my socks off. I have been an avid user of the Nose Frida for 3 years and have never looked back to that bulb syringe. They have ingenious baby products that are the gift that keep on giving.
This particular product I was skeptical about. All of my children have been amazing at taking liquid oral medication from the get go. Never had an issue administering their Tylenol when needed or their Zantac (Holy Moly reflux batman). Then, we had our 5th child and he turned the medication game upside down.
He has never been one to take anything. He is high needs and lets everyone know it. If you try and give him medicine he gags, chokes, spits it out and then screams like you are trying to hurt him. It is a mess. Needless to say, I just avoided any medication and gave him all the supportive measures possible letting him work it all out on his own. Then he hit 10 months and got slammed with all of the things.
First, it was an ear infection. They prescribed him antibiotics and due to his size he needed 6mls 2 times a day. That is a lot of medicine for a kid who gags and pukes up all of his liquid medication. We struggled through, and barely got anything in him. Right when we were going to bring him in for his recheck, the flu hits. Unfortunately, we had to solely use acetophetamine suppositories to keep his temperature under 103*, and those suckers are expensive. It was in that moment I knew I needed to figure something out.
CVS here I come!
During my search I came across the MediFrida. For about 15$ you can tell I was desperate. It is a syringe with a pacifier you hook the syringe into. You place the syringe in the pacifier and gently squeeze it into their mouth. It surpasses the taste buds and helps to reduce gagging. That is what the package said any way. I figured anything was worth a shot at this point.
We used it with ibuprofen for the first time and it worked. Clearly, this had to be a fluke. I was convinced that we got lucky that time around. Then, his ear infection came back. The doctor gave him another antibiotic that required a less volume dose. Now, two times a day, we were going to find out how well this little MediFrida really worked.
HE HAS NOT PUKED ONCE.
Incase you missed that, not one single time has he puked up his medication since using the MediFrida. Also, another thing that sold me on this little device is that he flails when he gets his medicine. Sometimes he would end up head butting the syringe when flailing (OUCH!). This product protects the syringe in a silicone pacifier and therefore there are no more accidental ouchies going on.
If your child hates taking medication, this little gadget is a life saver. You can grab one on amazon right here:
I promise you will not be let down!
